Ellie Thurs 9/23

We have had an exciting few days. Monday Ellie's IV was taken out, which was exciting for us because it had been in the middle of her forehead ever since she had trouble with it Saturday night. That site bothered her much more than others had. She was a little better on her feedings, but still required tube instead of bottle mostly. Tuesday morning after we arrived she was taken off the bili light, moved to a crib bed (out of incubator), and took 2 oz by bottle. It was a great start. She had a little more trouble and needed the stomach tube for her next few feedings, but has since done well with her first attempt at breast feeding. We are mostly sticking to trying the bottle (of breast milk) for now since breast feeding takes so much of her energy. We love the crib bed. She's in her own clothes and can be held a lot more often. She took bottle feedings all night last night and at her morning feeding this morning, so we are hoping things are looking up in that department. I'm at home for a little bit right now, trying to get a few things done. I had my own doctor's appointment to get my staples out, but I'm headed back up to Topeka soon. Drew is home for a few days working, but plans to head back up there this weekend, so I'm on my own for a couple of nights. I'll try to do better updating if there is more to tell...our doctor yesterday told us we were looking at another week in the NICU, so that's the only time line we've gotten. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers...we'll be home soon to show her off!
